Kids throwing improves as they grow and can grip the ball properly. On the flip side I remember a kid who threw a nasty three finger pitch when his hands were small (from ages nine to eleven). The ball naturually fell off the table. He was tough to hit even though he didn't throw very hard. Once his hands grew he couldn't replicate the pitch. He was out of baseball at fourteen.
