1st and 3rd fake bunt

Different coaches have different philosophies.  For me...the play is a judgement call for the 3rd baseman.  If the ball is bunted and it can be fielded by the catcher or pitcher, then the 3rd baseman gets back to third.  He was in on the grass and on the line to start.  If he has to field it and calls off the pitcher he likely goes to first with the ball to get the out and the pitcher goes to 3rd.  

Shortstop owns 2nd base and the 2nd baseman owns first.  

We use the P3 concept. Pitcher covers third baseline, third stays home, first charges, second covers first base, SS covers second. 

If the hitter pulls back, everyone gets back to position.

I don't think you would want third base to stay home.  What if they squeeze?  Pitcher falling off to the left of mound and trying to get to a squeeze bunt down third base line ain't happening.

Charge both third and first base, SS covers second, second covers first.

Important part is third reads it.  He fields it go home/one and pitcher covers third, he doesn't field it get back to third.  I think this overall the best option.

A couple of questions....

A) Does the team that uses this ever actually squeeze or safety squeeze during this situation?

B) Based off delivery of the pitcher when does the hitter show bunt?

When you say "defend a fake bunt"....does that mean you know they aren't bunting?  If so, it doesn't matter how you defend it     If you think they might, then have third and first charge....if the guy from 1st goes, SS has 2B if you're throwing and 2B has 1st if they do put the bunt down.  I know in HS, my son would field any ball he could get to when he was on the mound (he was also our starting SS), and still does in college.   The other pitchers on his team aren't very good at making plays on bunts so they don't do much unless a ball is directly to them.  I would say at least half the time they field a ball, things don't go well....slip, bad throw, etc.
