Has anyone heard anything regarding the WSU Opening.  I have looked all over the Internet, and so far, I have heard the following four candidates:

Jewitt from Vandy

Swenson from WSU (Pitching Coach)

Hitting Coach from WSU

Scott Brosius from Linfield

Any other candidates?  Timeframe?

Swenson lost his gig there too. Too bad, we liked him a lot and he took good care of son during a visit there this spring. Hitting coach was Joe Ross who has some really nice bona fides (in coaching and scouting), but he is also out. From what I heard through the baseball grapevine in WA, Coach Ross isn't looking to head coach anywhere. Same source mentioned Tighe Dickinson, a former UW assistant now at Arkansas State. I was interested to see that Brosius resigned from Linfield within a few days of the axe falling on Coach Marbut. I'd keep my eye on Coach Mummert from Tacoma CC too.

Washington State made an outstanding hire this week by announcing Oklahoma State assistant coach Marty Lees as its replacement for Donnie Marbut. Lees, of course, developed a stellar reputation during his time as an assistant for Pat Casey at Oregon State, and has now landed as the head man in Pullman, Wash., after a successful stint as an assistant on Josh Holliday’s Oklahoma State staff. Lees has a very good reputation as a recruiter, and certainly knows the lay of the land in the Pacific Northwest quite well. In terms of his staff, it might be wise to keep an eye on former Oregon State assistant and Texas Tech head coach and current New Mexico assistant coach Dan Spencer, whom Lees has strong ties to. Lees also has strong ties to Utah assistant Jason Hawkins, who previously served as an assistant at UC Santa Barbara. Overall, the Cougars should be very pleased with this hire.
