Looking to talk or PM with someone about Area Code tryouts- anyone that had a son tryout in the last year or two that would be willing to talk, I would really appreciate it. Just trying to get some intel on what to expect.

I am a 2017 so this will be my first year for area codes. My region does not have the dates posted, but I will be getting an invite from a local scout. The best way is to look for emails of scouts in your area and reach out to them.
DM me. Big picture: the part of the country you're in will go a long way to determining the quality of your son's process.
My son received an invite to the Northeast tryouts and I was wondering if anyone who has gone can tell me if the pitchers are only doing pitching at the tryout? I didn't know if he would be batting or not. I just wondered as to how the tryout works. He is very excited to have received an invitation from a scout that saw him while he was having a pitching lesson at an indoor facility. There were a bunch of scouts there watching another high school pitcher that throws 90's and is more than likely going to be being drafted in June. So I guess my son was in the right place at the right time.

Thanks Bob. He is a pretty good hitter as well but I'm sure he is fine if the pitchers aren't batting. I just didn't know how the tryout was run and knew someone here would have some experience with it.
My son was a 2-way player and when he went to Area Code tryouts I think the scouts and coaches there knew that. And if I recall correctly (it's been a few years now) son was told that he needed to hang around after his pitching exercises that he can participate in the fielding and hitting exercises. So, as Bob suggests . . . be sure they know your son would like to do both. And make sure you do that early before everything starts so that your son is on the agendas they use in coordinating their activities.
PS: Yes, I think the pitchers went through their exercises first and just a few of those pitchers were ask to stay later in order to pitch to the hitters which involved the last set of exercises where hitters would hit against live pitching and fielders performed under live action for better evaluations by the scouts.
