Area scout has had contact with my son. My son was an area code player. He also played in the scout ball circuit during fall. He was invited to a mlb team workout with about 12 players. At that workout there were area scouts and cross checkers from out of town.  I am aware of area scouts coming to watch him play but what does it mean when cross checkers arrive at the game with the area scout that has been in contact with him. Some insight and experiences would be appreciated . Thanks

Starting in my son's junior year of HS, he had scouts, cross checkers at a lot of his games. Talked to him,me, his coaches , and so on. We were excited, proud and sure he was going to the show. 4 years later, after his junior year in college, the Padres finally drafted him in the 10th round. Tell your son to enjoy the attention, keep his grades up,work hard and good luck to him.

Wow good for him. Everyone says to enjoy the ride. It is hard not to think about this everyday . Especially when you are new to this. Did you ever consider getting an advisor.

Countryboy;

As the founder of the Area Code games, your experience is typical of the thousands of players who played in the Area Code games. The pro scouts and "cross checkers" are experienced in the visit with players, parents and agents.

In the end result is about tools, including the 6th tool. The most important question is "is your son ready to play pro baseball NOW!

When we travel Internationally and our Goodwill Series players play 12 games in 15 day, our scouts/coaches know "who can play" now and who will attend a college.

College baseball is a excellent "stepping" stone to professional baseball. I would prefer they use wood bats.

Talking, asking questions, FINDING THE MEANING into things is a blast, I suggest that you do learn what is going on and enjoy it in a knowledgeable way, instead of having no idea. There were several parents in our club that had went through this process just a few years ahead of our group and their willing to share and explain was very helpful.

Here is where lies the problem, it takes a high school drafted player unless a top pick, maybe 4-5 years to get to the show.

All this means is that there is a possibility that come june he might be drafted,maybe, most HS seniors do go to college to improve their game.

You do not need an advisor at this point in time.

Just enjoy the ride. Good luck.

What are you considering a top pick . Top 1-5 rounds or first round. Looks like most HS players end up signing if they are in the top 5 rounds. I know everyone has different situations though.
