Trying to determine if there is any opportunity for a D-3 LHP to do his major's required study abroad program without sacrificing skills. Thinking about: instead of a summer collegiate league like he did this summer maybe something in Europe. Does anyone know anything about this program: http://www.cble.org

Thanks!

ps. I'm re-reading the above and shaking my head in disbelief I'm even asking this. What a life...

Some European countries like Germany, Italy and the Netherlands have quote good leagues. They are not affiliated to colleges though,  college sport is rec sport in Europe,  here high performance sports is done in clubs.

I can only speak for Germany but they have a quite solid league however with large performance differences. The weakest teams here are like a hs team in their strength while the best teams have several former minor leaguers and d1 players,  often those games end with 10+runs difference.

If you click the player names you'll see schools listed for some players. Looks like it's something like an adult league with a smattering of college players from different levels.  I'm guessing that it's  not a highly competitive baseball opportunity, but better than taking the season off.

I don't know that specific program.  However, there are shorter trips to play baseball in Europe in the Summer (or elsewhere at other times of the year...see Bob's Goodwill Series for an awesome experience).  Old World Baseball was a ten game stint this Summer (www.oldworldbaseball.com) against the 18U national teams of France, Germany, and The Netherlands.  My boys both did this trip and it was outstanding.

Just returned from Catholic U camp where one of the students spoke of his European summer league experience - looks like it was the CBLE link in initial posting. He said it was a great way to "study" abroad and play ball. Had a great time and was not very competitive but a positive & fun experience.

Interesting. What did this cost?
