I knew Beer entered early, how common is this. Beer's circumstances were quite different than most. He was old for his age as a senior and quite mature and ranked very high as a 2016. His folks felt college after HS was a better option than milb. Clemson also lost some players which opened an opporrunity for him to start asap. Plus, he fell in love with Clemson the moment he saw it and wanted to establish his roots there as a college player. Its already apparent he is an impact player and made a difference in the seasons outcome and will have his likeness up on the wall when he leaves clemson. Freshman of the year awarded the Dick Howser Trophy aint too shabby.
One thing to keep in mind, summer programs are usually not covered under the players scholarship or is the housing. Speak to the athletic advisors.
IMO it came down to the cost of an early start vs playing summer ball, which can be expensive, I would choose the first option.
