I know this does not only pertain to the "Great Lakes" forum but a last post from October 31st was just 2 much to bear any longer Wink
Read an article on ESPN mobile this past weekend the the Big Ten may look at a proposal to begin play in April thru August. there was a discussion on how it would affect the CWS and they would have to play up to 14 non conference games in the fall. Any thoughts?

My thought is that John is seeing the writing on the wall. Minnesota uses the Metrodome as its practice/game facility from the beginning of the season through the end of March. Last year, with the Dome inaccessible, really showed how much of a detriment not having an enclosed facility was to the program--which will be possibly happening again in the near future, due to the proposal for a new stadium.

He saw how bad it was last year, realizes there's a good chance for it to be a permanent situation, and is trying to plan accordingly. Not saying I agree with him, but I can see why he wants this. There are quite a few lower-level schools that already play a schedule like this in the Upper Midwest, for this very reason.

One can only hope that they find some way to keep the Dome operational. It's the only way many schools (college and HS) in Manitoba, Ontario, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, and the Dakotas even get a chance to play before mid-March.

I agree with you on this.
Big Ten will be making a mistake with this IMO.Big Ten tends to be arrogant on issues like these.
