When coaches at more selective colleges offer commitments they often can provide some amount of admissions or 'academic' support, within reason of course, to a limited number of student-athletes.

Does anyone know of instances in which a coach at a less selective school supported a student-athlete for admissions into that school's honors college, even if the student needed no academic support to get in to the school via general admissions?

We'd like to know ahead of time if this is something that could be negotiated once an offer is made.  Thank you.

My son was offered/supported by a coach into a school's honors college.   This SEC school was using it as a carrot because he was not getting athletic money.   They had another RHP recruit decommit (grades) and they became interested in my son after seeing him pitch all summer.   The catcher on his travel team had committed to this school a few weeks earlier.

Questions, please feel free to PM for details.
