I like watching a game deciding who can play, I think winning matters and way to many players are selfish

I get tired of launch angles, velo's both pitching and hitting, it is not that they don't matter just that they are overdone

I like and believe in the bunt in certain situations...

I have complete confidence that hitters would be more productive if they stopped striking out so damn much,

I like hitters who use the whole field

I think if a hitter gets hit by pitch in the batters box he deserves first base

I think a double header on the 4th of July is about a perfect way to spend the holiday....

I grew up playing ball in the 70's and 80's, the players today have more talent for sure but it doesn't mean the game was better.

Old School seemed appropriate.

and just for the record, I think swing with no forward movement is as stupid as a pitch with no stride... LOL I think I am done now!

You must like Crash Davis!

"Well, I believe in the soul... ... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days. Goodnight." I love Bull Durham it never gets old!!

I have twins sons, both pitchers, a lefty and a righty of course. FYI - RHP decided to "hang up his cleats" this year after getting released. He made it to AA and is now looking for a coaching position somewhere while finishing his degree at NC State. LHP is still at it. He suffered a season-ending leg injury in April of last year while in Single-A and was released in December. Now he's trying to get back in by playing Indy ball in the Can-Am league.

Did your son attended NCState?

Both attended NC State for one season their junior year and were then drafted. They transferred from another D1 that eliminated their program.

If your son returned to finish and played in the program, he can ask to be a student assistant.

This I believe opened doors for my son.

The original Royal Rooters were a fan club for the Boston Americans, which in 1908 changed its name to the Boston Red Sox. I am obviously a Red Sox fan.

When I went to Yankee Stadium with friends and bought tickets through group sales, they offered me to put "Welcome *Group Name*" on the scoreboard. I tried for "Welcome Royal Rooters"...it didn't happen.

Who?

Tim the Magnificent is not a handle I have used, although there is someone named Tim whom I do think a lot of.

Having an incognito ID allowed me to post a lot of nonsense back in the day that hopefully couldn't be traced and possibly reflect negatively on my son. He preferred that I not write about his baseball experiences which was relatively easy since all those early years I was working out of the country.

A bit obscure, but my favorite band of all time is NRBQ (New Rhythm & Blues Quartet) - tons of good music, and they had a few "hits" in the 70s and 80s, probably the biggest being "Me and the Boys", which got some Top 40 radio play around 1980.  One of their best albums is titled "At Yankee Stadium", which is tongue in cheek (as if they could play live at and fill Yankee Stadium).  Although at their peak, they could draw a crowd and opened for national acts.  They still tour, albeit with only 1 original member Terry Adams.

Anyway, fans of NRBQ affectionately refer to themselves as Qheads.  Hence the screen name.

Oldest couldn't say the 'R' in our last name (Krueger).  One of his teachers when he was very young (preschool) told me that he told her my name, but instead of using my first name, he told her my first name was Dad.  Dad Cougar.  Thus, Daddycougar was born.

Love this!!!!!

In graduate school we had a Notepool.  Each student took turns with the 90 other students of taking the best notes known to man from the lecture and then photocopying 90 copies.  My class had a lot of diversity, geographically and culturally.  The topic in microbiology was coccidioidomycosis, Valley Fever is prevalent in the San Joaquin Valley of California.  The persian woman taking notepool wrote in her notes that it was from sun walking valley.  That was funny to me and I always remembered that set of notes.  So, I come from SJV or sunwalkingvalley.

Walking Underwear, anyone?

I joined this site a few years ago when my son was in High School. At that time, in MLB , the newly discovered but short lived 'Strained Oblique' epidemic hit Baseball . Dozens of guys going on the DL regularly . This was both odd and ridiculous at the same time . Weird sh*t . And seemingly baseball specific . I thought it was humorous. So, when I signed up here I thought it would make a good screen name.

But after being sort of forced to actually think about my screen name today in order to participate on this thread, It seems a bit dated. Maybe I should change my screen name to something more specific, appropriate, timely . Like maybe 'ATMDad '

Wow, thanks for the blast from the past Qhead.  I saw these guys about 12 times in college back in the early 80s.  They were regulars on campus and different venues in New England.   They had a very different sound back that I loved.  I'm headed to Spotify to see if I can find some of their material.  Outstanding!
