Yes.  There is no harm in discussing what schools your son is interested in or visiting.  I think it is an opportunity to demonstrate maturity and focus if a recruit rattles off a bunch of schools with something that each have in common (location, major, etc).

At the end of the day, the Coach is evaluating where your son is in the recruiting process, how much he knows and is he a possible recruit at his school.   Anything your son can do to put his best foot forward is an opportunity to help himself and begin a dialogue with a college coach.  JMO.

Keep them guessing, it's a business with grown men recruiting young men. My son told them every school/camp he attended and we even had an offer deadline mandated before we went to the camp....... as a result of them finding out about our plans to attend a camp. We declined the offer and he committed elsewhere. The pressure tactics can be very used car salesmen-like", be firm with your desire to see all schools and go through the process...he only gets to do this once!

I don't know what the best appraoch to this conversation with how to respond but I can totally believe the above happened. any time you get a bidding war between 2 rivals (who says hate is a bad thing) things are going to get heated very fast - this tends to be true in any setting, sports, women, business, golf...doesn't really seem to matter what the venue is!

If our sons were asked, they answered it honestly.  They did not answer the 'how much?' question as its our view that its personal information.

Don't really know if it hurt or helped - but I do know they usually found out anyways even if they didn't ask.

Competition is good - you'll only hurt yourself if you embellish the truth and name schools that haven't really pursued your son.  They find that out too I assume.

that is great, one of my business partners is the same way, if we are competing against certain other firms for a project he will drop to rock bottom in a heart beat...i am alwys like slow down we don't need to do that!! Baseball and life are very similar.
