Well I think it could be a good opportunity for a couple of players but looks like a sure moneymaker.

sons D2 has a pro day in the fall that seams pretty well attended by scouts, enough to get a player on the radar.  I don't know if every D2 school does this but probably enough do that not to many players slip through the cracks.

i sent my son the link and asked him to ask his coach about the opportunity, if I get a chance to talk to the coach I may ask him about it, I usually keep my conversations to a brief hello and nice game coach.

it will be interesting to see what kind of turnout they get for the combine. i have to think at this point in a players career everyone should have a really realistic view of where they stand in the baseball world. Just based on the number of kids drafted out of D2 over the last few years, if you haven't been having any conversations with scouts prior to this combine you better be a real stud to get drafted just by attending. IMO. Before i would dish out $600 my son had better have a real convincing argument and a strong baseball resume to back it up.

what does an event like this do to a kids eligibility?

I must agree, if the player isnt making a name for himself by now, its a crapshoot. Especially at the D2 level. I cant imagine it would mess with their eligibility as they are not being paid, they have to pay themselves out of pocket for the tryout. However, if the kid is a legit D1 kid and dropped down to D2 due to certain reasons not skill related then maybe its worth a shot.
