We've had one scrimmage so far in North Jersey, and the rain forecasted for today and tomorrow may shut down Friday and Saturday's scrimmages (due to field conditions). Top that off with a home opener on April 1 against a good team that has already played in FLA and you get antsy.

But in the end, 2016' Bulldogs will play hard and to win. All you can ask.

We were told we are playing Saturday unless the field is covered in snow.  Looking forward to the game time high of 39 degrees.

On the plus side my kid was told he is going to be one of the main pitchers this year.  We are playing a double header on Saturday.  He is going to start at 1st in the first game and be the starting pitcher for the second game.  He was told to only expect 2 or 4 innings his first outing. Was told that he is either 1 or 2 pitcher, but they are going to let other kids pitch early in the season in the non-confrence games to let them get some time on the mound.

Amen,

Son's team finally got a scrimmage in, and it was COLD, especially when what sun there was went behind the school.

Looked like my wife and I were avoiding baggage charges at the airport with all the clothes we had on

(wore a couple of under-armours, BP jacket pullover, heavy sweatshirt, snow shoveling pants & jacket).

Field had plenty of gopher holes and was rock hard.

Doesn't count but we were happy despite the chill to see son get good hits and have a nice game.

Seems the 'warming' part of Global warming hasn't made here yet this spring (spring ?)

Picturing this is making me laugh uncontrollably for some reason. The absurdity of it all, I guess. I am gathering the little hotties, ski clothes and mittens for our first came as well. Would I be a bad mom if I watch from the car?

Enjoy, it never last as long as you would like... Bundle up, it will be warm soon!

Thanks for that head's up, birdman! So if you want to come to my son's game, I will share my little hotties

Ok then.  Because the games where cancelled today I ended up at work.  Enjoy that.

Gene Wilder: Igor, where did you get this weather?

Marty Feldman: I believe it came from Abby. Abby Someone. Umm, Abby Normal I believe.

Gene Wilder: You mean I put abnormally cold weather in the part of the country that already has cold weather!

William Holden: I'm cold as hell. And I'm not going to take it anymore.

I live in NH.  I'm going on a three day snowmobile trip on Friday........

One son just got back from FL for spring trip (private school) and has a scrimmage on Saturday on a turf field.  Other son who is at local public high school started practice this week - in the gym.  It's going to be at least a couple weeks before they get outside.

Got 2nd scrimmage in just now, wind blowing in hard, raining as well.

Freezing under the overhang.

Was 'shivering all my timbers"

Admittedly, It is fractionally warmer when your son throws out the only 2 runners by 4 steps each,

Balaclava wearing umpire looked ready to leave (as did mom) so strike zone expanded in a hurry.

Weather a factor in batting:

at the end of a 10 pitch at-bat son hit a long line drive right into the wind & rain that the Lf reached over the LF fence and caught.

Northeast pre-season baseball, bleeeech.

50 degrees would feel Tropical right now

I ran into some high school kids at 10pm last night. They had just finished practicing on a rival high school's turf football field. They were practicing under the lights with temperatures in the 30s. This was on the north shore of Boston. The snow is mostly gone except where it was plowed up and where there isn't a lot of sun. But the fields are still mushy.

Boston College is playing their home games at Delaware this weekend. Last weekend they played home games on turf in Northboro. Sunday was called off due to wind chills in the 20s. Apparently a lot of college teams called the baseball complex in Northboro. There were college games scheduled all weekend.

Got lucky on Friday neared 40 and no rain/precip, nice scrimmage vs a good team in a different class. Close to real baseball.

Then yesterday,

28 or so degrees, very windy and snowed all scrimmage long.

Son wore 2 heavy thermal Under Armours, BP pullover and a fleece,

tough to bend elbows, lol.

4 kids on the opposing team wore jackets (looked like down?) to bat, all just looked at pitches and went back to their bench which offered modest shelter from wind and snow.

HS heading south this week suspect they'll say "what is that yellow thing in the sky?"

2017 got his first games of the season in yesterday. Win game 12-2. He was on the bump for game 2. We lost 9-1. The team gave up 7 runs in the 1 2/3 innings he pitched. 5 errors as well 4 of them on the same player. He threw 65 pitches before they pulled him as they have there pitchers on a 60 pitch limit for the first few games. Not one of the runs were earned so his ERA didnt suffer. Coach said he liked the way he pitched and told him he would get him out there with the starters next time he pitched. I guess we play our bench kids in the second game of non conf double headers. Glad i was out of town and didnt see this.
