I checked my sons account with the NCAA eligibility center.  While it says the final amateur status is certified, the final academic certification stills says final decision not yet made.  He will be a freshman and school starts mid August.  Can someone tell me when this final decision will be made?  It does not list any open tasks for us to complete and it says all transcripts have been received from high school.  His grades are not an issue -  he has a full academic ride at the D2 school he is enrolling in the fall.  He has contacted the coach and thrown a bull pen session for him.  We should get a final decision from the coach about a placement on the team this week or next.  I tried to look for a timeline for this academic decision but couldn't find anything.  Does anyone know when this final decision should be made or should I be contacting someone on this at NCAA?

As others have stated, it's a very busy time of year for the Eligibility Center, and, unfortunately, the fact that baseball is a spring sport puts those athletes in a lower priority than those in Fall and winter sports.  (NCAA universities are calling and e-mailing the EC to requested "expedited" certification for many of their Fall sport athletes.)

As long as you know that your son has the required core courses, GPA, and test score to be certified as a Qualifier, and that his final official transcript has been submitted by his high school (and by any other high school, if he attended more than one), I wouldn't stress out about it.  If another couple of weeks go by without final certification, you may want to contact the compliance office of the school your son will be attending to ask if they can check on it for you.
