Just noticed a bunch of FIU’s freshman have already transferred. Three to just one juco. All highly rated. So not walk on situation. Is this common at top tier programs?

Have you looked at size of recruiting classes?  Maybe a head coach change?  Maybe a code of conduct issue on team?

Where did you notice this.  Without stating any info, you have just made the program look bad.

Are you interested in that program?

Was the HC's son one of the transfers?  I can't find any article, but does this look like kids leaving the program or is it MLB prospects making themselves eligible for 2018 draft?

HC’s son was a second round pick last year and signed. He’s currently in the Royals organization.

New coach as of last season. Obviously brought in to improve the team. 24 commits in 2017, 25 in 2018. Several of those have been/will be drafted.

Understand what you’re walking into if your kid is in that situation, or thinking about a team like that.

Some of those 2017’s may have been recruited by the previous coaches. Some may have had academic issues.

Do the 24 from 2017 include the new 5 on the roster that transferred in from other schools? Honestly don’t know. If not then that means they tried to bring in 39 this year/ I understand some may draft, and some may have issues other than baseball. But it still seems kind of high to me. Then again I am just starting to lean about the recruiting stuff.

Doubt it, but I really don’t know for sure.

A new coach is going to try and make an immediate impact. Often that involves bringing in JUCO players. Some coaches always recruit JUCO players, as they have college experience already.

Do some nosing around on this site. You’ll learn about schools that bring in 50 or more, including walk on tryouts, in hopes to field the best 35. Learn as much as possible about recruiting so that you and your son don’t fall into the trap of hearing what you want to hear from a coach, and not what he actually said.

Always research prior year rosters if your son is interested in a school. Learn how they really recruit.

I think this school is somewhat of an outlier given the extreme number of recruits.  They do have rosters - current and prior - posted online so one should be able to take a look at recruiting classes and actual rosters and get a feel for how things are working there.  If anyone is thinking about this school, it seems like it would be a good exercise to do some real work on the numbers game and maybe take a peek at the HC's prior programs.

While it is important to do your homework on any program you are considering, I would suggest that this one appears to have a few more moving parts than most.

I should clarify, If one was to look at the Florida, FSU, UCF , FIU rosters ,  90% come from the state of Florida.   It's no wonder with the talent Florida has.  So I'm guessing , in-state, talented players are better for the program , school, scholarships, in-state players want to stay close to home etc...  2018 talked to Florida early on and I think something could have developed if TC had not said wait a darn minute.  BTW, TPM   TC said to tell you hello.
