1st and 3rd 0 out bottom 7

Suicide Squeeze executed ball is bunted fairly hard 1 step left of pitcher.

Runner slides home safely

pitcher fields bunt clean, looks home, puts ball in pocket

it is a single for the batter or a sac/squeeze for the batter.

there would have been a play an out at 1 but the game was over.

just want to get stats correct for the all-league and year end info.

Thoughts?

For me it’s a base hit.

OBR Rule 9.12(a )(1) Comment: Slow handling of the ball that does not involve mechanical misplay shall not be construed as an error. For example, the official scorer shall not charge a fielder with an error if such fielder fields a ground ball cleanly but does not throw to first base in time to retire the batter.

It’s one of those situations that could be argued forever, but most good scorers I know would give the batter the benefit of the doubt.

Excuse me. I thought game ending suicide was about Aaron Hernandez.

If anyone thinks this is harsh I don't have any sympathy for the guy. He did society a favor. The sad part is such a gifted athlete chose the wrong route. You can take the kid out of the hood. But sometimes you can't take the hood out of the kid.

thanks for the responses. I believe I can leave it as hit and only feel slightly like I am acting as a homer...our stats are very clean and legit so I will be ok. I know they don't really matter but I do think it is nice for the boys.

I guess the topic name wasn't well thought out, I honestly don't think I ever started a thread before so next time I will do better. I hate to minimize human life, there obviously are some difficult details in his past. To quote one of the great baseball men of our time.

"gone forever Aaron Hernandez"
