It took me several weeks but I managed to convince our local maintenance crew that spraying the dormant Bermuda baseball and soccer fields with roundup will kill only the actively growing things and not harm the Bermuda. Turns out they were trying to save a buck by not spraying 2 ball fields and 2 soccer fields but forgot how much it cost to replace the turf. The $100 or so a gallon is dwarfed by the .50 - .75 a sqft for the new sod, plus the labor, and equipment cost to tear out the old stuff and put down the new.
