I assume everyone with a 2017 or 2018 who has attended an HF event has received email and snailmail invites to this? (see below for the details and links)

We're not giving it serious consideration but I think it's a nice attempt on Headfirst's part to expand their business, and I can see how it might work for some families because there is value in helping kids cope with major transitions.

My quibble would be that it doesn't seem to make much sense for 2017 and 2018 grads to attend the same camp. I'd stick to 2017 only, but probably they didn't think they'd do enough numbers that way to make it profitable.

PREPARE FOR YOUR NEXT STEP: HEADFIRST PRESENTS THE SUMMIT

Dear .....,

We’re excited to write to you with a special invitation to a NEW Headfirst offering: THE SUMMIT, to debut July 9-11 in Miami, Florida during the MLB All-Star Week!

We've created THE SUMMIT with the express purpose of helping guide you through the next steps of your academic and athletic journey, with programming and curriculum tailored specifically to the unique challenges that lie ahead for the classes of 2017 and 2018 in their recruiting process and college journey.

WORKSHOPS

As a member of the class of 2017, you have successfully navigated the college process - congratulations! Over the course of three days  at THE SUMMIT we'll focus on maximizing the unique athletic and academic experience ahead of you by equipping you with the tools to succeed from your very first day on campus - both on the field and in the classroom.

Our Honor Roll Camp alumni have a track record of high achievement and high school success as holistic student-athletes - but college is a whole new ballgame. The workshops for the class of 2017 student-athletes will focus on the tactics, strategies and habits that you can start building now so that you can succeed at the next level, with an emphasis on the newfound autonomy and freedom - and the required re-calibration of discipline and individual ownership to balance this freedom with the new academic and athletic challenges that await.

PANELS

Led by our Headfirst leadership and featuring experts and leaders in fields such as finance, sports medicine, technology and journalism, THE SUMMIT panels aim to orient you to the future as you think about life after college and your career opportunities.

Along with the networking opportunity that our panelists can provide, we'll look at life after college athletics, and the opportunities that you have to redefine a traditional career through your unique intellectual and athletic passions and interests.

MLB ALL-STAR WEEK

For the days of July 9-11, Miami will transform into the epicenter of the sports industry as the MLB All-Star Game takes over the city. As you look towards your own future, we'll also enjoy the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, and also the up-close-and-personal fun of the MLB All-Star Fanfest.

We invite you to join us at THE SUMMIT to connect once again with our Headfirst team, your Honor Roll alumni peers, and leading industry professionals as together we look towards the next step in your journey and prepare for success.

Please note that the capacity for this event is extremely limited to maximize your personalized experience at THE SUMMIT, and open only to Headfirst Honor Roll Camp alumni - enroll now on THE SUMMIT website.

Best,

Yep, got it as well for my 2017.  Interesting approach for the 2017's, but not sure why a 2018 would go while they are still are the recruiting trail and would be better served to use the money for showcases like HF and Showball.

The $1500 price seems too high as well for what appears to be more of a seminar with a workout and a couple of nights in an airport hotel.  It seems the 2017's would benefit more from hearing from their own team players who are now sophomores and how they survived the adjustment to college and baseball.

That sounds like a plan!    I have been meaning to get to a Stompers game for the past couple years and keep falling short, which is a shame, as that's a great field surrounded by excellent places to eat and drink.

OTOH we have been getting to some Prunepackers games; not quite as nice a field, not quite as close to the the joints in town, but I'm guessing that the level of play is a bit better.

I was kind of appalled actually at the audacity.  Are you kidding me?  $1500!!  FOR WHAT?

We are usually big HF supporters but this struck us such a huge money play.

And some of that may be a bad taste from last year's honor roll camp where we saw them going out of their way for some guys (some who had paid their buddy big bucks as "college advisory system" thing) and not doing the same for other guys who paid the same $1000 to be there.

Anyway, not sure what the value added for the Summit is except to extract more money from those that clearly have it.
