In another thread BOF piqued my curiosity when he made reference to a high academic DII.  The DII's I'm familiar with wouldn't carry this label, but then again I have far greater familiarity with DI and DIII schools.  I'd be very interested to know which DII's are considered high academic.

When we went through the process we found that DII's tended to be state schools, and not the academic profile that fit my son with the exception of Cal Poly Pomona and UCSD. I am sure they are out there but we did not find them and he was looking for engineering so this narrowed his search as well.

So is Nova University, although it is very much a commuter school, IMO.

I didn't realize that there was such a stigma against D-IIs.  My dd is at a D-II.  While she is only going into teaching, it is considered the top school, in the State of Missouri, for their School of Education regardless of NCAA affiliation.  It is also one of the top schools in the nation with regards to law enforcement training.  In fact, the FBI among others do courses there.  It is one of the top Optometry schools in the State of Missouri. My daughter's degree will read "The University of Missouri" when she receives it.

This is an outstanding engineering school. I believe they were previously D3, but regardless an excellent choice for someone looking for baseball and engineering in the West.

Forgot about Bentley.  Couple of son's former summer ball teammates play there.  Excellent school.
