Hi Charley,

There are lots of good things about your swing.  Keep in mind that there are more than one schools of thought for proper hitting mechanics so you may end up just confused by asking people online to evaluate your swing.  You may get some decent tips but I would recommend that you find someone that you can work with locally.  If you can't afford a hitting instructor, ask around for someone who is qualified that may be willing to help you out and work with you once in a while.

I will throw out a few specific suggestions...

-spend a good amount of time with tee work hitting to the opposite field.  This will help assure staying inside the ball and develop a quick first half of your swing.

-make sure you are working on strength and conditioning as well as speed and agility.  Include lots of core work.  This will help allow you to maximize your hitting potential.

-as others have suggested in another thread, stay up on your grades!

My $.02 for what it is worth.  Seems like you squish the bug -- just turning you back foot.  You also look like you're opening you front foot a lot.  Which leads to opening the hips too soon and may cause you to pull off the ball, especially on the outside pitch.

So 2 things I would work on:  Close your front foot and get your weight moving forward to the inside of your front leg.  Good luck.
