I live a mile or so from a park.  Last night I was on a bike ride and there was a game going on, so naturally I stopped.  Two teams I recognized from my son's days as two of the better than average travel clubs in the area.

10U....

Every guy who gets to first takes second on the next pitch....no throw from the catcher....though he did throw out a guy trying to steal third.  We had a great catcher at 10U...nobody tried to steal....this is painful to watch!

A kid is on first.....pitcher doesn't even look at him, though 1B is holding him on.  Kid takes off on first move....and goes into second standing up.  Called strike.  Kid on second runs back to first as the catcher throws back to the pitcher.

I'm wondering "is this a new rule?"....

Nope, the kid for some reason unknown to everyone (including 1B coach standing 10' from me) just ran back to first....lol.   Coach says "why did you do that?".   Kid looks at him and shakes his head!

I can't wait to get back down to those fields.....brings back memories of everything I loved about youth baseball       You don't get to see that stuff in college.....EVERYONE got a good laugh out of it!!!

Have one to share.

Batter hits a grounder to SS who fields annnnnnnndddddddd gets ready to throw to first. Only problem, 1st baseman was still in the normal fielding position oblivious to the ball in play. Of course SS does not throw and the runner is safe. We ask the 1st baseman " what are you doing" he replies "sorry coach I was daydreaming" What can you say to that?

Everybody burst out laughing including the first baseman

It could have been a strike....I wasn't watching that close...but the kid didn't swing.  I actually thought for a second that for some reason that may have been some kind of weird new rule that you can't steal on a called strike.      The coaches at 1B and 3B just looked at each other and shrugged after the kid got back to 1B....that's when I figured out that they were as confused as I was lol
