thanks PG, I stated it badly about travel ball. Like I think I said, Winning was very important to my kids and to me in every game played. HORSE in the back yard included. I did not think about, but it is true, that when we get together with those families from travel ball and reflect back, we tell stories. relive the past. Much like HS ball.

My kids made great friends from travel ball as well and as a family, long time friendships with other families because of it.

I wouldn't trade travel ball for anything, much like I wouldn't trade HS ball. They are just different IMO.

BTW, thank you for all you do for kids who have aspirations. your service is like no other.

chefmike,

My comments were not directed to any specific person and especially not you.

I just get frustrated when people feel the need to be negative towards one thing in order to promote something else.  Especially when the two things don't compete against one another.

I can honestly say I love the game of baseball and those that play the game. Doesn't matter if Little League isn't the same as Travel Ball, High School isn't the same as Summer Baseball, or Minor League is as good as Major League, or Legion Ball vrs. Travel Ball, DIII isn't as good as DI, or any other comparison.

If it is baseball and kids are playing the game, it is all GOOD IMO.  I don't waste a minute trying to compare how one is more important or necessary than the other.  The most important thing is enjoying the game.  And that depends on wherever you are at the time.  I simply don't understand not playing for your high school if that is a possibility.  I also don't understand taking the summer off if you are a baseball player.  Sure there are some reasons, injury among other things.  But last I checked the Spring and Summer is BASEBALL SEASON.  It is the time for baseball players to play baseball.

So all the other things like training, exposure, recruiting and making a name for yourself, really don't matter if you don't play during the actual season. Those games are what is most important to a high school kid who is a real baseball player. Everything else takes a back seat.

Thanks, for the kind words. Very much appreciated!

Jerry as usual makes some great points. My son was fortunate to play on one of the premier showcase teams in the nation. I was fortuante enough to coach that program after my son moved on to college. Awesome memories. Awesome experience. Great baseball. The only real difference was you were making new friends in the game and playing for each other and your program vs playing with the guys you grew up with. And of course the level of competition was lights out.

You can talk about the great things HS baseball brings to the table without trying to knock down another experience. Jerry I miss having the opportunities to see you at those events and talk to you. I hope you and your family are doing well.

Doing well Coach, thanks.  I miss seeing you too. Hope all is well with you and the family.

The highest compliment someone can give in baseball is very simple...

You are good for the game!

That would be you!

I've said it before, It sometimes seems like you and I grew up in the same house. It is sort of scary how much we think alike.  You just have a real talent for getting your point across.
