Is this invite legit?

I would ask you son's HS coach what he knows.  How would other coaches in your state know about your son?  Have they seen him play?  

My first instinct is a mass mailing.  

I would also ask other teammates if they received the same mailing.  

 

My 2016 recieved same email.While not checking into it one has to wonder with all the sponsership on the email why would it cost so much?I am sure the email is legit along with coaches in your state.But what really does that mean?To me not much.Just another money maker more than likely.

2015 son got the same email.

It's legit.  I am the Assistant GM for the Viginias (VA & WV) for the WABS (The Series).  The mailing is NOT a mass mailer.  Your sons were identified by coaches within the state.  There will be teams to represent every state at each age group 10-18u.

 

We are a new organization.  The sons of PGStaff, Andy & Ben Ford, are founders.  This is a baseball festival like no other.

I heard our area guy turned in 8 and only 3 guys received this first round of invites so appears they are trying to make it a quality event. 

So these invites aren't mass mailings?  How do the invites get on this tournament radar?

I just emailed name on bottom of invite and asked straight up if it was a mass mailing and how they got sons info. Will keep u posted. 

Lion, the Series asks guys at programs like mine to identify top players.

Playball, I am part of The Series.  This is not a mass mailer.  It is legit.  The top teams in showcase/travel baseball are involved.  The founders come from Perfect Game.  I'm not sure how much more "legit" it can be.

I received the same email, my older son has just finished a red shirt sophomore season so it can't be for him, my younger son is 10 and thinks he's going pro at 12 but...I followed the link on the email and it looks legit just assumed they got mixed up on the emails, happened with PG emails over the last 2 years.

Heard back from contact listed on invite and he said it was not mass email. Newer program/  Tourn.  Said info on players received from several contacts, including coaches. 

Son cannot attend, it conflicts w arriving early to college.

Just curious if most players in 2015 class have signed what does this age level get out of traveling so far to be play w 20 other kids they have never played with? Who knows how much time u will actually play? Can see it more for 14-17 ages so they can be seen.

No, not the case here. Our Summer coach is no longer coaching. Said they work w PG, travel ball teams, high school coaches and LL in areas to gather info. Surprised PBR wasn't mentioned. 

another opportunity I guess to travel to play tournaments. But honestly son has signed w D1, working on conditioning over next few wks, esp meeting w pitching coach who we could not fit in much during HS season. He also wants to work a little in "real world" to have spending money for college. 

Guess it would have been a fun experience, but don't see spending another thous traveling/playing so far away. It's not like he's being looked at to be drafted and needs to show his stuff. If he were younger we would consider going. 

Not sure who coach would even be.

I coach for the Canes but have recommended several kids from other organizations.  It doesn't necessarily need to be HIS coach.

Redbird, how would you find out specifics on coach, roster, etc?

Rosters should be 18-20.  Typically 2-3 catchers, 3-4 MIF, 3-4 CIF, 3-4 OF, rest are P's with some being two way guys.

 

Coaches will be from major travel teams in the state/territory.

My 2017 son also got one.  We'll probably go.  No better place to be in August then Florida.
