I can only send my son to one showcase in the next year.  Of the two showcases, which would be a better showcase for him? I am not sure what the criteria is to qualify for the Jr. National but he has done pretty well this year so I am anticipating that he might have the opportunity.

Here is my quandry.  He plays football in the fall, not baseball, and with the Jr National being in Dec, I am not sure if he will have enough time to get to the top of his game in a month.  If we wait for the Academic in May, that comes right after his high school season, so he should be pretty sharp.   Any thoughts?  (after reading this back, it kinda seems like a no brainer but what do I know)

JLC,

If your son is invited to the Perfect Game 2015 Jr National Showcase, you should do everything humanly possible to get him there. Only PG's top national prospects are invited. About 175 players attended the 2014 event. The invitation alone will put your son on the map. If he performs well, many colleges will be interested. Even more so with strong academics.

If he doesn't get invited, you'll need to do more research about where to best invest your showcase dollars (if at all). It is critical to have an accurate assessment of his playing level and the types of schools that fit academically and with baseball.

It depends what his college goals are.  These two showcases couldn't be any more different.

The PG Jr National showcases the best high school baseball talent in front of the top D1 college teams.   This is a great event if top shelf baseball is the goal.   My understanding is this is invite only.

Headfirst showcases the best baseball talent based on their academic talent.  If your son is a top academic student AND a talented baseball player then I would consider HeadFirst (as well as other showcases like it).

Good luck.

Yeah we need to be on that list.

So where do I send my mailing address, should my son go out to the mailbox every other day or once a week....ha ha ha

Is that the best HS talent from all states or just the top HS players from PG events.?

jlaro,

It is many of the most talented underclassmen from everywhere in the country.  However, if it were only the best players that attended PG events, that would be very similar.  More than 80% of all players drafted by MLB teams in the past 8 years have attended a PG event. That makes it a pretty good group to pick from.

@ PG, Thanks,

My son 2015 just finished a PG event this past weekend in Lexington, also his travel team was out in Atanta on July 4th for 17U 18U event. looking forward to other events down the road.

Did realize the number was that high 80%...nice to know.

Joe

OP.. which showcase does your son real stronger about... if possible can you go to both.?

Why not go to both gives you more options.
