I thought his viewpoint on how he chose where to go to college for baseball was interesting:
"They had more interest in me," Hendricks said. "They had invested more in me. I wanted to play right away as a freshman."

Thanks for posting 2019Dad. We were fortunate to see Kyle Hendricks pitch in college. He wasn't the kind of college pitcher blowing people away, but he rarely got hit hard. At the time, I thought it was weak Ivy hitting, but apparently he's doing the same thing from the minors to the majors. I'm not a Cubs fan or Big Green fan (far from it!) but I am a big Kyle Hendricks fan. I love watching that guy pitch. He's got stuff!
Pretty impressive what Kyle Hendricks is doing. Even more impressive coming from the Ivy League. Is the Ivy League most comparable to mid major baseball? Or is it a little better or a little worse competition?
If you look at RPI ratings, the top couple of teams in any given year may be in the 100 - 125 range (out of the ~300 Division I teams). OTOH, the bottom couple of teams may be around 225 - 250.
Definitely not Power 5, but legit D1.

I think that is a very fair assessment. You have to remember there are quite a few Ivy League (and Patriot League) players who get offered to both D1 Power-5 and D1 Mid-Major programs but opt to pursue a different, more academic focused path. The Ivy coaches that can find these kids will have a better chance of program success. Dartmouth had owned the Ivy a few years ago. Kyle Hendricks was one of them, and doing exceptionally well.
Doesn't have the best fastball but good command and offspeed stuff.
Still I think he is quite lucky this year, won't be able to sustain that.
