I recently witnessed an LSU game and noticed that many players have tree trunks for legs and bulky physiques without a lot of height, (the 1st baseman didn't look over 5-10.)  Boy they could hit too with the starting line-up all hitting well over .300.  I wonder if the coaching staff actually seeks out these type of players?

As this is my son's future teammates, I have watched just about every game they have played this year. Coach Mainieri really doesn't put much emphasis on size or body type. He wants to win. Period. He gave multiple players the opportunity to win the corner infield spots, second base and catcher. What you see are the kids who stepped up and took the opportunity. The kid at 2nd is an outfielder that played football for a couple of years. What impresses me most is the amount of pure athletic ability on the field. I am sure most D1 programs are similar, I just don't follow the others as closely.

Whenever I watch the first BC game of the season I think the other team are giants. Then I go down the BC roster and notice they have more than their fair share of 5'10" players. When I was watching them play Clemson recently I watched with one of the BC head coach's former BC teammates. The coach is 5'10". I made a comment to the friend. He said (I think joking, not sure) the coach likes to be eye to eye when he talks to his players. One thing about a 5'10" head coach. He probably isn't going to have a size bias in his recruiting.
