Beautiful location on the river, very nice campus. Ranked well regionally in the NE so academics are strong. Coach was a fantastic player at Marist, so probably a stable situation for players as far as the coach staying there goes. Decent program looking to get over the hump, usually right in the middle of the MAAC. I believe they have a locker room and cages in the basketball arena not far from the field. As far as the field goes as a facility, that could be a drawback. I believe it is definitely worth a look if the region, weather, etc. are not issues. I am from NC area, milder weather in the early spring, so I could see why some people would have reservations about going up north.

Thanks Bombsquad. Good info. We're about 65 miles to the South of Marist, so we're very familiar with the weather. From what my 2017 son has told me, his desire is to remain in the Northeast. But upstate NY and that area are out, in his mind. Things may change.

He also has a learning disability, nothing dramatic - a processing thing, that was diagnosed at the end of his freshman year. Marist was one of the schools recommended to him as they specialize in students with learning disabilities.

So far there is mutual interest, so we'll see how it all shakes out.

Absolutely! There was a guy in my conference that I knew and had played a few times with who attended Marist (which was my source for knowing a bit about them; he attended as a walk-on, but never traveled. Not sure if he ended up being a part of the program past his first year). He had a struggle with ADHD and it was very important for him and his family to find a school that met those needs and offered the programs and resources to set him up for success in the classroom. I believe he ended up studying within the Social Sciences school and is working in education now. I lost touch with him outside of FaceBook, but know that he did well at Marist and finished his degree, so an indirect testimony to their Special Service offerings!

Best of luck to you and your son moving forward in the process! Keep us up to date on how things go!
