From the NYT Saturday: "BOOK IT Matt Harrison started the 2010 season in the Rangers’ rotation but lost his spot by the end of May and was left off the postseason roster. In the off-season, Harrison said, he watched highlights of the Rangers’ ride to the World Series on TV and felt deeply frustrated. The answers, he found, were right next to him.

“Those couple of books I had, they were sitting on the nightstand right beside the couch I was sitting on,” Harrison said. “I had them for a year or so and never even picked them up.”

Harrison devoured the books — “The Mental ABC’s of Pitching,” “The Mental Game of Baseball” and “The Tao of Sports” — and learned to sharpen his focus. He went 14-9 in 30 starts, won the division series clincher and will start Game 4 in Detroit on Wednesday."
