Swampboy has mentioned in a couple of threads that he is a moderator.  He also has "Administrator" listed.  I have been a moderator here at HSBBW for a very long time.  I know Cleveland Dad is a moderator.  Still, I don't see many listed or noted as moderators.  So, I was wondering who are all of the moderators?  I know Julie has a few of us because her work is so time consuming that she needs help.  BTW, thanks Julie for keeping this site up and going.  Julie has been put through the fire with this site and has proven her mettle.  I've been torched a time or two myself.

Take care,

Darrell

Most of our problems these days are dealing with shoe spammers from China and Germany.  Just about every morning, either Swampboy or myself have to delete unwanted shoe spams.  Fortunately, we now have the power from banning these people but they typically come back in a few days under a new alias.

In the old days, the Illinois forum gave us the most problems.  There were just a lot of trouble makers from that part of the country but that hasn't been a problem for years now.  I don't believe the state forums get used as much as they once did since we switched to the new format.

We have some issues every now and then that are dealt with behind the scenes but for the most part, this is still the greatest site ever created imho.  I hope it stays that way for many, many years to come.  Love it when new members come here and we follow their kids from high school to college, and sometimes to the pros.

I couldn't agree anymore with this statement above.  I love to follow these players and help folks who have like-minded goals.  It is a great place.

Thanks for everything you guys and girls do behind the scenes as moderators/administrators.  As the saying goes..."no good deed goes unpunished".

Want to buy some German shoes?

Another moderator here - and another person who is thankful for all that Julie (and before her Bob) has done in creating this unique and wonderful site.

I'm not posting here as much as I used to be now that my son has completed his playing days- but it still remains one of my favorite stops when I have time to kill. As mentioned above, I love following the stories - kids going from pre highschool to where ever their talent, desire and luck takes them.

As for the cleanup on aisle three, I think that having multiple moderators who do that clean up has been one of the successes of the site. So many other sites get polluted and the junk stays there for days. This place stays pretty darn tidy.

Yes, I was also here for Bob "Chief cook and bottle washer."   I appreciate his efforts as well.  As one of moderated the Illinois Forum back in the day, man what an experience.  I too take a lot of spam off the boards.  I get up early and often get the email.  I have never understood why those companies do that because it tends to inflame others and not garner support.

I have followed many of your sons and others through the years.  It has been pretty neat.  About a month ago one young man pitched in relief against my Cardinals and I found myself hoping that he would do well.  My child is a senior this year in college and so, her career is just about over.  I have always appreciated the kind words from most of you when I post information about her.  I know Julie has followed her career from early on and was always supportive of me posting stuff about her.

For those reading this who may not know of "Bob" who is referred to here, he's Bob Howdeshell; and he's the guy who had the foresight years ago to start this site.

Like so many of us who had sons who dreamed the dream, he found that he had little to provide his son in the way of information as college recruiters came knocking on his door. However, he figured that if he could harness the collective insight potentially available via the internet, he and others like him could become better resources to their baseball-playing sons.

In a variety of ways, his vision continues to be realized here every day thanks to the wonderful leadership provided by Julie, who stepped up to assume responsibility for the site when Bob decided it was time to step away, and the Moderators she has gathered around her.

Many thanks to all of you who have given so generously to make this site the tremendous resource it has become. Because of your efforts, many of our sons have been able to pursue their dream with much more clarity and support at their disposal.

P.S. CD, I thought you might pin the "offenders" label on those guys from Northern Ohio. They can be a pretty tough group, I hear.

Can you ban from the IP root...? IE: 123.45.*

I'm sure there's very little German and Chinese baseball activity on this site, so you'll probably not offend anyone... LOL!

Yes we do that as well but some of them use multiple IP's.  We've basically got the problem under control - it's not too big of a hassle.

Note to Prepster (and people from Illinois) - perhaps my initial post was in-artfully written.  I didn't mean to imply that there was a problem with people from that part of the country.  At one time however, we had a group of posters from the Chicago area that liked to stir the pot.  Now that group has moved on, the problems have stopped.  Was not trying to generalize that people from Illinois are problems.  Sorry for that.

I can tell you the moderators do one heck (wanted to use another term, but this a family sight, and did not want to force the hand of a moderator ) of a job. I also post on another site, and while most of the time it is well under control, things can get out of hand. (I believe infielddad knows who/what I am talking about.) That does not happen too much here. The mods do a great job of balancing the rights of individuals vs. The needs of the community. +1 to all the moderators.
