When PG rents local fields (i.e., high school fields in the area), the schools are responsible for providing the staff to turn fields, run concessions, scoreboards, etc.  PG provides the "official scorekeeper" to run gamechanger as well as staff to collect the gate fee (the local schools do not get the gate).

Sometimes we are able to get current players and families to volunteer for this, but oftentimes we are not.  Parents aren't taking time off work during a weekday to volunteer time, and most players are playing in this or other tournaments with their summer teams.  As such, we're frequently left to pay folks to cover these shifts.  So when we staff it out, we want to pay as little as possible since we don't make an exceptional amount of money by renting out the field.  So, certainly in our case, we choose not to staff anyone to run a scoreboard during the game.  With cell phone access to GC, there should be plenty of people with the actual score available.  Also, all anyone does when the board is running is complain that the keeper has the count wrong.

In the end, scoreboards are just not something that we want to spend to provide.

Great. Got it.

Frame it how you like, but the high school rents out the field to third party, not out of any altruistic purpose, but as an opportunity to generate revenue for the high school baseball booster club to be used to support our high school baseball team expenses.

So, to that end, the goal of the high school is to make as much money as they are able and provide an outstanding playing surface.  Our only opportunity to generate revenue is from the rental payment PG pays and any profit from concession we sell.  In order to do this, we want to provide all that we're obligated while spending as little as possible in doing so.

We provide the labor to deliver an outstanding playing surface for the players to perform.  That's what we're obligated to provide.  As for tarp removal, no players have had to do any maintenance at any point this year or years past.  I can only speak for one high school, so your mileage may vary.

As far as scoreboards, we choose not to pay someone to sit and keep the scoreboard and, yes, it is out of pure selfishness and in the interest to make money.

I recall last year at the 15U WWBA, there were specifc scouting comments made by PG Staff on the observations of the game and they were found when loking at the overal schedule and results. Most of it was focused on the pitcher, such as velocity, pitching motion, with other notes thrown in of highlights of the game.  I have not been able to locate that on this year's 17U tourney.  All I've been able to find is the recap generated by GameChanger.  Does anyone know if there are specifc scouting notes on a game by game basis. I have a "scout" subscription to PG, so I don't think the individual notes would be hidden from me.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

That's exactly what I was looking for... They're not available this year I guess...
