Jared DiCesare: 133 pitches last night. SMH.

As bad...Jamie Sara (W&M signee) was throwing a gem.  102 pitches through 7.  Coach, to his credit, does right thing by pulling him.  B8, 1-1 score, R2 and R3 with 2 outs, WP coach mistakenly makes second visit to mound...long discussion...just a brain cramp moment (happens...understandable), and umps force him to pull his reliever.  Coach makes a bad situation worse by bringing Sara back into the game (from 1b, I presume) after not throwing for 20+ minutes.  He K'd the kid on 4 pitches, I think.  But...SMH.  I was following on GameChanger and Periscope...couldn't believe it.

WP Coach didn't realize/forgot that visit limits didn't "carry over" to extra innings.  With no relievers loose, not sure what else I'd have done.  Is a 20 minute break any worse than if they'd spent 20 minutes hitting and then he came back out to win the game?  Great game nonetheless.  Both pitchers were taking advantage of the big zone.

Lake Braddock over West Springfield last night, 4-3. Well-pitched games, both teams, but many costly mistakes both sides. Tyler Jumper 126 pitches and a gem. Wade Strain was also great, but don't know his pitch count. Great night for HS baseball.

It was Lake Braddock over Robinson....  West Springfield was 8-0 LB win last week.  Wade threw 111 pitches FWIW and Shreves came in, threw one pitch, and gets the W.

Yes. I corrected my post.

Battlefield beat Westfield, and Patriot won.

So I think what we have is:

Patriot @ Chantilly
Centreville @ Battlefield

Since mid-season, Centreville has clicked, so in a way I'm not surprised. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it's Bach vs Agnos. If so, that's a great game to watch.

Chantilly: I'm wondering if a 9 inning, 133 pitch outing by Jared DiCesare will impact his performance vs. Patriot. As it is, I don't think he can pitch more than 5 innings, so Forrest Wagner may have to come in to finish up on a few days rest.

Tough end for Madison.

Though DiCesare is undoubtedly our ace, Chantilly still has some well-rested arms that we just haven't tapped a whole lot during the season.

Good battle between Jake and Carter, with Jake coming out on top in a 2-0 win. Centreville performed very well this year.

Battlefield at home will face Chantilly on Friday, a 2-1 winner last night over Patriot. Brett Norwood with the walk off single with bases loaded in the bottom of the 7th. Jake Pasquale started for Chantilly. The idea was to him to start and go as long as possible, and if needed, hand it over to Jared D. Unfortunately, Jake was forced out in the 3rd when he took one off the ear: nine stitches.

Forrest Wagner will go for Chantilly on Friday.

The first round of the states will be a challenge for the Battlefield and Chantilly opponents, with Jake Agnos going for Battlefield and Jared DiCesare going for Chantilly.

CATSPOP: I met Jake's dad (and granddad) today for the 1st time. Loads of fun. And THAT'S a baseball family!

JOEMKTG:  It was indeed a good game that was pitched very well by both young men.  I think there was only three hits between both teams (depending on the scorer).  I sat next to Jake's grandfather (his mother's father) the entire game.  I reckon you met Grandpa Agnos, who is a trip!  I wish I had known you were there, I'm still kicking myself for not finding you last year at your place to introduce myself.  Wishing your son + the family all the best next week & beyond.  Thanks for all your help along the way, it has been truly invaluable.

I think two of these teams will be in States: Madison, Chantilly, West Springfield, Lake Braddock, Battlefield, Hylton.

Gun-to-head-guessing: Madison (proven) and Battlefield (tough to beat Jake in critical games) will be playing for the Regional championship.

If anyone is a betting man or woman take JOEMKTG along with you or get his advice.  He correctly picked 3 of 4 teams that will be playing for 6A state championship.    Chantilly, Battlefield + Hylton.  The 4th team is Cosby from Richmond.  That's pretty unbelievable!

Ouch for Jake Paquale! My son caught for him last summer on their travel team. And played with Brett Norwood, same team. Outstanding, under-rated player.

I hope that Pasquale is okay.  The picture I saw of him had an awful lot of blood on his jersey.  Feel same about Padeway, watching him play twice this year has been a treat.  A few other of those ball players can also flat out rake.  That team is a team + scary good.

Jake is ok, walked off field on his own and got 9 stitches. You can see video of the play here ...
