Number of Baseball programs & scholarships

so I did the math and assumed 32 roster spots,     15,852  scholarships and 38,950 roster spots total.   So that is 4,000 scholarships and 12,464  per class  assuming equally distributed by all 4 classes which they are not.  and of course scholarship money is divided up as well.     

Note that in D1, one division, Ivy, doesn't offer any athletic scholarships, and another, Patriot, offers them only for football and basketball.  (though I think Fenway or another user here said that they might  be moving to 1 or 2 per team for baseball, and of course at 2 member schools, Army and Navy, everyone there gets a full ride)

Also, not every school is fully funded.

List does not include JC's that aren't members of the NJCAA (i.e. every CA JC, which offer no scholarships  but are generally pretty cheap to attend - 112 campuses, not sure how many baseball programs)

I have heard too that D1 is required to have 5 non-scholarship players on their roster. 

 

Not sure if that changes if there aren't 35 rostered players.

Good information Sultan.  I'm guessing the D1 average is higher due to the 25% minimum and possibly a higher percentage of out of state players.

 

The other thing to consider when looking at this list is that both public and private schools are included.  I think the amount given by private schools will carry a higher average due to higher tuition.  

 

The other observation that surprised me is the average amount of athletic scholarship money given by NJCAA.  I would have thought that with 24 scholarships available for DI & DII, the average would have been much higher.

This is good info and thanks for posting it. In the recesses of my mind, I swear
that I once saw a link to another site that provided details as to how "funded"
schools were.  If I was not actually dreaming and anyone out there can recall
that site, I'd be grateful.
