My son, an OF/RHP had Tommy John Surgery in September 2013 and just pitched in his 1st game in July 2014.  He has not attended any showcases but attended 2 college camps(Georgia and Kennesaw State) his freshmen year at where he was rated highly on pitching and hitting.  He plays on a high level summer travel team but as an OF/hitting has not gotten any looks.  He was timed throwing from the OF at 88, s fairly fast and averaged around 400 with his summer team with 162 plate appearances.  He

really wants to play college baseball and we are debating whether he should attend the PG showcase or wait until November to attend the Top Prospect.  We feel like he will not be at 100% pitching by the August showcase as he has only pitched 3 innings.  We are going to have his fast ball velocity but wonder what velocity he needs to be throwing to make it worthwhile to attend the Showcase at the end of August.  He is getting anxious as it is his Senior Year.

bballmom,

When you get his velocity, let us know what it is.  If he plays on a high level team in Georgia, we probably know who he is.  There are different events he might qualify for from August through January.

If you want an honest answer as to whether we think a PG showcase is likely to benefit him, send us information.  staff@perfectgame.org

Truth is, we don't want anyone's money if the player isn't likely to benefit.  And we don't want players that aren't physically ready.  And even though it is unavoidable at times we don't want unhappy players and parents.
