The most important part of the movement will be if NFHS really does pass a rule about it.
Something I found strange in the article though, is this statement about switching to a pitch count.
The National Federation of State High School Associations, which establishes playing rules, is also considering a switch to a pitch count.
What are they switching from? Many believe NFHS requires pitch restrictions based on innings pitched but nothing could be further from the truth.
NFHS Rule 6-1-6 . . . Each state association shall have a pitching restriction policy to afford pitchers a reasonable rest period between pitching appearances.
That’s the NFHS requirement. If it was based on innings pitched, no state would be able to go to pitch counts until that rule was put into place!
I don’t think a great many of those opining on this issue understand what the NFHS rules actually say, a lot like most who opine on HS baseball.
