From Scout.com:

"Last Saturday, California held a prospect camp at Evans Diamond, and came away from it with a trio of commits. First came 2018 junior college utility man Hance Smith, and last came 2018 Bears legacy Mitchell Scott, but sandwiched in the middle was Trevor Tishenkel.

Tishenkel, out of Poway (Calif.), has been on the Cal radar since early summer, when the staff first saw him at a showcase camp in Southern California. The staff then invited him to the camp last Saturday to see a little bit more.

"The next day, I went on a visit there, looked around the school, and they offered me a scholarship on Sunday, the day after," said the 5-foot-11, 165-pound outfielder who doubles as a left-handed pitcher. "It took me four days. I had to compare it with the other schools, and ultimately, it was the best fit for me."

Another friend of my son also committed after attending camp. But of course he was on their radar, and not a random invite.  (BTW Tishenkel is a 2020.  Former LLWS star Hance Smith was a 2017 commit at Pacific, de-committed, and is now doing a year at Santa Rosa JC.)
