The San Jacinto Gators have advanced to the Junior College World Series for the seventh time in the past eight seasons. San Jacinto, which finished third in the conference in the regular season, beat NJCAA third-ranked Blinn 8-3 on Wednesday to win the NJCAA Region VIX tournament and qualify for the Junior College World Series. The winner of the Region XIV tournament automatically qualifies to the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. San Jacinto finished second in the NJCAA World Series last June.

San Jac advanced after fighting adversity all season. The Gators consist primarily of freshman this season, after many members of the 2003 squad moved on to professional and four-year college baseball. Because of the turnover, team cohesion was an issue; however, the Gators put it all together at the perfect time--just in time for "JUCO" (as the Grand Junction, Colorado natives say).
