Is there any way to find out schools that may still be recruiting or excepting walk ons for the up coming year?

Call and ask, or have your coach call and ask.
D1s have roster limits (35). Jucos and D3s (not many D2s in our area) are allowed to have more than 35 and some schools even have JV teams, but I am not sure of the roster limits.
I wouldn't think D3s and Jucos would have their rosters formalized until after the fall. These schools have tryouts/workouts in the fall, which are open to everyone.
Some schools (D1s) already have their 2013-2014 rosters posted online.
thank you for the reply. I suppose his best shot is just pick a juco and signup for classes and then tryout. I think he was hoping to get an indication from the coach before he signed up for classes. Its clear we should have spent a little more time learning the process.He will be happy to play with a scholarship or as a walk on he just wants to play.
