Anybody have any good recommendations for a good shoulder specialist in the Northern VA/DC area....looks like we are going to need one.

Dr. Wiemi Douoguih is the National's orthopedist and is an excellent shoulder doc. He treated my son when we lived in nova.
Whoever you choose, make sure they regularly work with overhead throwers. Sorry to hear of your troubles. Good luck.
Dr. Douoguih was let go as part of Mike Rizzo's purge of the medical and training staff a couple years ago. The aforementioned Dr. Robin West is now the Nationals team doctor. Dr. Edward Chang, also part of INOVA, is very good. https://www.inova.org/Physicia...rd-S-Chang-MD/824983
Thanks for your replies. Do you know if Dr. Douoguih was let go due to medical issues (I know they had a lot of players hurt that year)....or because the Nats struck a deal with INOVA to become their "official" health provider (which I am sure involves INOVA paying the Nats for this)?

I think just one of those things where the club just wanted to shake things up after a string of bad luck.
If you're not satisfied with your local options, consider a trip to Andrews Institute in Pensacola FL. Best of luck to your son.
Dr. Allen Egloff has an office very near to NoVA - in Clinton, MD 240-244-1130. Has a very good rapport with student athletes.
Thanks for all the replies and well wishes. We decided on Dr. Douoguih for now since my son goes to school in DC and it will minimize his time out of class to stay in DC. The dr. thinks it is a torn labrum and has ordered an arthrogram (sp?) to see if that shows anything. He has set him up with a physical therapist that specializes in baseball injuries, and is going to try that route first to see if they can strengthen his shoulder and fix a scapula issue he is having.
Failing that, he will most likely have labrum surgery this summer. Not exactly the way we scripted out his first year of college baseball going...but hopefully he can come back and play in the future. For now, he is teaching himself to throw left handed
