Talking to coaches?

I know D1 is September 1 of their junior year and I believe D2 might even be slightly before that. You should have no issues if he's a 2018.

But i think when they come to games, there are different timelines? 

D1:

Quiet Period: Only in person contact on campus

Dead period: No in person contact at all, anywhere

Phone calls, texts, etc. OK anytime throughout the year (after Sept. 1 junior year)

this confuses me as well- the site linked above says for "Junior Year" about phone calls "You can receive one per week starting July 1st after your Junior year" so since Junior year doesn't end until around May , the July 1st after junior year would mean just before senior year, correct? so it sounds like you can get recruiting info via mail or email, but no phone calls till you're almost starting senior year?

I believe that it is July 1 (of rising senior summer or as the link states "after junior year") that you can have off campus contact.  It is all very confusing but I think July 1 (rising senior summer) is the key date OP was asking about...

Found it — there's a download available at http://www.ncaapublications.co...downloads/CBSA17.pdf. It has a lot of stuff, but a fairly simple chart fairly far toward the back. D1 coaches can call, but can't have off campus contact until after July 1 before your senior year. Pages 27 and there abouts. This seems like a handy publication to have.

Don't worry about it. If an illegal contact is made, it's on the coach, not your player.

I believe you can contact them at any time but they have the guidelines about contacting you...please see attached
