Just dropped by to say thank you to everyone who have helped us along the way.  I am proud to say that my son graduated from Grinnell College in 4 years and had a great education as well as played competitively all 4 years. The lessons learned in and out of the diamond will surely help him tackle what awaits him in the future. Again, Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Think about all the kids that start out playing the game. Then how many actually play in HS? Then how many of those go on to play in college? Then of those how many complete their career and get a degree? That's a huge accomplishment. The amount of dedication, desire, hard work, perseverance, well it's just awesome.

Hard to watch that clip without getting misty-eyed.  The empathy that anyone on this board would have for such a moment in a young baseball player's journey is deep.  On Mother's Day no less.  Your son has a lot to be proud of and hard work clearly pays off.  Congrats on the degree, and also I could not help but notice his stats as a 4-year starter.  EVERY COLUMN shows improvement each year.  What more does one need to see.  Ryan obviously is a hard worker.  Love the HR column especially!  Says it all......FINISHED!!!!!

Thank you all for the likes and kind words. @#1Asssitant Coach, What makes the HR really special is he hit it for his Mom who was diagnosed with breast cancer last January and happy to say that she is doing well after finishing chemotherapy. If you see the last part of the video, he pointed to his mom before he went back to the dugout and eventually got a big hug  from Coach Hollibaugh.  Having my son home makes her recovery faster. We are still halfway to the treatment plan but all is good. I was just so happy he got through his spring season after such devastating news, did well and also ended up being All Academic for his conference and helped his team set some athletic records and recognized by ABCA with a national academic honor. He ended up (in his own silent way) being the career team leader in Sacrifice Hits and HBP to cap off his career.

Congrats to you and your son.. To be a 4 year starter is an accomplishment, to do it and also excel at the academic side , plus one!

What a great Mom's day present, I hope she is well on her way to recovering.  Son's teammate went through the same process last season and the support given by his teammates was off the charts. The bond that takes place amongst college teammates is incredible.
