Being a Tribe fan, I’m used to seeing lots of pitchers almost every game with Francona’s philosophy, so the article doesn’t surprise me at all. But since HSBB is my main source of baseball, I don’t see the ML trend getting down to the lower levels, even though I think it would be a tremendous boost to the game.

In order to do that, even a team that only plays 3-4 7-inning games a week would need at least 5-6 average or better pitchers, and that’s not even a dream for all but a very few programs. If anything, at amateur levels starters will be asked to throw as long as they are breathing and within whatever rules there are.
