As a HS Baseball Coach and a father or a 10 yr old that just gave me chills.  If you talk to most people they want to make it sound as if these kids were mini adults and behaved and acted differently and this generation needs to get straightened out.

Just looking at Duffy as a child you see that he behaved and acted like a child.  You can see his quirkiness, his excitability, and funny side.

Best line in the essay:

..., and you realize that in that moment, he’s finally breaking through what initially appeared to be a suffocating crust of anonymity/negativity, and before your very eyes, claiming his place at the top.

That's powerfully inspiring stuff, for every "undersized" kid out there with talent, the will to work and the courage to dream.

Really awesome story.

Last Friday night, Matt Duffy received the best accolade a Giant can receive from his teammates.  He was voted the winner of the 2015 Willie Mac Award, for the best Giant.  Very first rookie to ever win the award.

In ST, he was battling for a roster spot as a utility player. Just as he did in the Cape, in May he got his chance at 3B and took full advantage. As of Sunday, he played in over 100 straight games, starting everyone of them.  I would doubt there is any Giant fan who would consider trading him for anyone, especially their former 3B.

The story is very fun with the photos from Dad and the family.

JCG, thanks for sharing!
