No idea what the weather will do to the schedule, but Tyler Wilson is scheduled to start at the Diamond for Bowie, against the Squirrels, Thursday at 6:35 p.m.

Tyler is a 2007 graduate of Midlothian High and a 2011 graduate of UVA, where he pitched on two CWS teams among other honors.  And BTW, a heckuva great kid, worthy of a strong local turnout of support.

I don't know if we'll end up with a Thursday doubleheader, or if it'll all get washed out, but keep your fingers crossed and maybe we can all see how he's doing these days.  Sometimes you just have to root against the home team!

Nice night at the Diamond last night.  Pretty good crowd when it filled in, and many cheering for Tyler in the area behind the visiting dugout and behind home plate.

I thought he looked very sharp through three, got nicked in the 4th and 5th, then ran into rough sailing in the 6th.  Et tu, Jarrett?  His former UVA roommate and still-good friend Jarrett Parker went 2-3 off him including a booming triple to lead off the 6th.  A couple of hits that could've been outs with better defense ended up chasing him.

I saw one 93 but he was mostly 90-91, occasional sink or cut to it, too.  Spot control was great until he got a few balls up late.  The 80-82 hammer was devastating when breaking low and he got a fair number of swinging K's but again, a few got up late.

I suppose it's not reasonable to hope for an undefeated season, but it's unfortunate his hot start had to end in front of his hometown crowd.  Still, it's always good to see someone you knew when who's moving up the pro ladder.  Since he's stood out at AA for a while now, we'll hope he moves to Norfolk as the summer progresses.
