The fact is they did cut the rate in half.... it was a two day camp ....and 2018 only went to the second day of camp and threw a pen. Then went on visit, offer etc. He was not really involved in the camp. They all do it.... my guess is they had to charge half for one day, and that got him on campus legally.... my point was really that if they want you , you will know ..... of course we learn as we go.

It's good that you explained that.

Not everyone gets how it works, and yes they can charge you for one day, legally, and I wasn't calling you a liar.

Did not think you were calling me a liar, just wanted me to explain better....i can see where a new parent might think they could ask for a discount. BTW jupiter opened up a new level for 2018. We met a lot of baseball people.....

Yeah, best time is as a junior, IMO. Dave was there too, good experience for him seeing it from the other side.

Look to see if the coach included a cell phone number in his email.  That is an invitation to call, and a sure sign of interest!

This is really interesting. I'm an idiot -- and didn't read this thread previously -- because I did not realize this distinction for the emails that my son sent out recently. It seems reactions to proactively emailing coaches fall into four categories, in increasing order of desirability:

  1. Nothing. No response. Zippo.
  2. Generic Camp Invitations. Often from a mass mailing program.
  3. An apparent personal response with a mention of camps or a recruiting questionnaire, with the coach's cell number. Might even say something like "call me with any questions."
  4. Coach reaches out to HS or travel coach to arrange a call from the player.

Obviously, #4 is the best, but I failed to recognize the distinction between #2 and #3.
