Here's a little history... it's an awesome story about a very gifted (selfless) baseball player and ARMY Ranger.

Karl is from Florida. In high school, Karl attended Port St. Lucie High where he was a two-time All Area football player and a two-time All State baseball player. In February 2006, Karl enlisted in the ARMY. Immediately following his training, Karl was deployed for a 6 month tour in Afghanistan. Karl returned to the U.S. in the spring of 2007 and within a month he was deployed to Iraq for a 24 month tour.

Upon completing his military service, Karl returned to Florida where he played JUCO ball for Brevard Community College. At BCC, Karl was an All-Southern Conference First Team selection. In 2009, he batted .361 with six home runs and 38 RBI. In 2010, he batted .329, with a team-leading 49 hits, 12 doubles, three home runs and 48 RBI.

In addition to his BCC baseball resume, Karl's military service allowed him to play for an organization know as Heroes of the Diamond. This group plays 100 games annually and conducts over 350 appearances, including international Friendship Tours throughout a 9 month season. The Heroes of the Diamond play many amateur and professional teams. In March 2009, Seiter led the HOD team with 2 hits against the Red Sox.

Karl currently is a senior at LCU where he plays 1B/DH. In 2011, Karl batted .333 with 8 HRs and 50 RBIs, enroute to winning 50 games for the season, ending in the 2011 NAIA National Championship game.

Here is a great Video article about Karl from the local newspaper. Lt. Karl Seiter ARMY Ranger

I had the pleasure of pitching against the Heroes of the Diamond in a game during my summer collegiate season in 2010. I don't remember Lt. Seiter specifically but the experience during the game was second to none. The entire organization was first class and it truly was an honor to be able to share the field with some of our nation's finest.

I will be sure to follow along with LCU's season and Karl's offensive onslaught on college baseball.

That's a great story. It's nice that your son will have the opportunity to share the field at LCU with this young man. I'd have to say that Lt. Karl Seiter is the perfect mentor for an incoming freshman.
You are absolutely right. Actually, they have become very close in the past 4 weeks. We are very fortunate to have Karl!
