Hi, I live in the north Atlanta Georgia area.  All the tournaments I have seen and read about are for 14u and below.   A sibling of a player on my sons team plays 16u and he seems to be flying all over the country, are there local events for the 15u-18u teams, or do they all go all over the place and who runs them?  In the younger age group there are a bunch of organizations like triple crown, USSSA, Grand Slam...etc.  The only one I have seen for the older kids is PG, but there have to be others right?

Anyone know about this area and where 15u-18u teams play? Thank you.

Pastime tournaments based in Indianapolis runs a lot of 15U - 18U tourneys.  Doesn't look like they go into GA, but they did to TX, KY, TN and VA.  Well run with good teams and they use a lot of big college complexes.

We played in the Music City Classic twice.......at Vandy, Belmont and some other facilities in Nashville....great tourney, good teams and a fun trip for us Northern Ohio folks

I don't know of any other organisations that get the quality teams at the older ages.

How about the not quality teams, where do they play?  I can't imagine the only game in town (pardon the pun) is Perfect Game.  I'm sure it is worth it for the 16u trying to be recruited by a huge D1 school, with the beautiful fields and incomparable facilities, but kind of expensive if you just want to play baseball.  Is there such a thing as "playing baseball" rather than "playing baseball to get recruited"?

My son played mostly USSSA through 16u (the kids were fifteen). Our local region was headquartered 45 miles from our house. They had 18u tournaments. There just weren't many teams. The kids not looking for baseball at the next level mostly played Legion.

It is amazing how quickly things are changing.  Nowadays it seems like everyone and their Grandma is running a Travel Team

To be honest, I don't see much around Atlanta other then PG and a few independent tournaments.  Most of the well known organizations that run tourneys for the 14u and younger, don't seem to offer much once you hit high school.  (At least not much that I know about.)

Everyone and the "screwed kid in LL" dads are running travel teams. I remember these conversations with dad coaches. I tried to keep them short. I'm not big on listening to excuses. It never turned out the kid was good.

What parents often described as screwed in LL is their kid was one of five candidates for the last roster spot. He didn't get it. Plus in the parents mind he shou,d have been a starter. After all he was hitting .400. The problem is he was hitting .200 against the good pitching and .600 against the stiffs.

Not true.  Haven't seen a single grandma or any screwed kid in LL dad running a single travel team in the 15-18U ages.  And I've seen hundreds of teams.
