Darin has begun November in a strong fashion in Venezuela.

Last night - prior to his last bat - he recorded his 9th hit in his last 9 official bats. (He also had 3 walks sandwiched in that little stretch.)

It was the first time since 1965 that someone did that in the Venezuelan league. The last player to do it was Vic Davilillo (oldtimers will remember Vic).

I agree with playfair, he's EN FUEGO...congratulations to Darin. And yes, I remember Vic Davilillo when he was playing with the Dodgers in the latter part of his career.
its - huge congrats to Darin - no way can I "one-up" you so I guess I'll try and "one-down" you Big Grin

Mine went 2-9 (as opposed to 9-9) in a double header the other day and here are two pictures of him with close plays at home plate. One he was called out and one he scored. I asked why he did not slide and he said that they try and avoid collisions at home plate if possible. Ok... I said He said the fields in Columbia are like playing in sand at the beach.

That would be wonderful! I truly enjoy following the sons the HSBBW family and Tyler always has been a favorite of mine, as you know. Another is Coach Merc's older son, Joe, who played against my Mike beginning when they were 13 and eventually winding up on the Red Sox team at East Coast Pro before their senior year in HS. Great people on here.
I dont know CD...He goes in standing up he better colide (Erstaad style)... The slide is the collision avoider though. (disclaimer.. my kid is a catcher.)

2-9 is solid. He may not feel it but 2-9 is just fine. Sometimes you carry - sometimes someone picks you up - sometimes you sacrifice.. 2-9 does not feel great but it is a contribution to a contribution sport.

Did High Point happen to play Wake last Spring? If so, your sons played against each other again. Very, very small world at the next levels past high school. My son has crossed path with numerous hsbbweb member's kids and/or their parents. It's way beyond coincidence.

Very small world. My son also played against Wake and High Point last spring.

Hey - once a college parent - always a college parent! Smile

Seriously, thanks for posting here. I believe I was able to deduce who your son was with a little help from infielddad. I am pretty sure our sons have played several games against each other as well while in college. Hope, like with Baseballdad1228's sons, our sons continue to play against each other in the pros! I'll say it again, a small world indeed!

Assuminig you are referring to my Pablo Escobar comment BaseballDad?

I don't get the Entourage channel but there is a must-see two-hour documentary on the History Channel about how much effort it took by various elements of our government and Columbia to finally destroy Escobar - perhaps one of the most evil individuals of all time.
My son finished up his weekend series in Medellin yesterday and they are flying home to Cartegena today. Said Medellin was nice and they stayed in a nice hotel.

The game Friday was rained out and they played a double header on Saturday followed by a noon start yesterday. He had an interesting statistical day yesterday going 1-2 with 4 walks and a stolen base from the leadoff position. He has started every game thus far. He has also gotten some good advice from teammates (e.g., hittiing approach, analyzing pitchers, etc.) who have many years of experience in professional baseball.
