What is fun???
parents yell out "make it fun for them and they will do better" or some nonsense like that. To me a coaches perspective of fun is totally different than a parents perspective. I try to change up drills and bring in different type of motivational strategies and all that but if a player isn't making it fun on their own then what can I do? I was watching the NFL network a couple of years ago and it was one of those Training Camp shows (the Ravens I think) and one player said what was fun wasn't the

Baserunning drills
In the past our program has been able to hit with the best of them but the next couple of classes coming thru are going to be offensively challenged. So as a staff, we have decided to really focus on "producing runs". Does any one have any good drills to help? Anything to do with running the bases, situation hitting, that type of stuff? I know I am year late but "ozzie ball" stuff. Thanks for your help.

If someone could give me some basic drills like how to see the ball better, help my timing, and how to make better contact it would be a great help. The only reason I continue to make the team is because I pitch. thanks dphs

Shout out to my Buddy Coach CZAR!
doing those dowel rod drills. BTW, I'm going to call Coach Haake and ask if we can play both you and Coach Ganser. It is our year to rotate away from playing your team. I don't think either one of us want that. Besides, you beat us so badly last year that I'd love to give you a chance to do it again. It was a lot of fun watching those balls leave the yard! Take care!

. 4. If possible, warm up with one of your upperclassman friends. 5. Don't stand around cutting up with the other freshman. 6. Hustle. Everywhere, every time. 7. Help without being asked (e.g., moving a screen, ball bucket, etc.). 8. If the gun comes out during IF or OF drills, throw hard - going for speed over accuracy. 9. If you pitch just to a catcher (no batter), don't try to clip the corners (not throwing everything right down the middle, of course). Better that nothing gets by the catcher

Great for hitting drills. Pictures: I used pictures of hitters to show different mechanics. Two chairs: I would often use two chairs facing each other. I

Drills I don't understand so maybe you can help?
I've observed some strange drills lately and so, I was wondering if anyone can help me understand them. I'm not critical of these drills since I don't understand the concept. However, it would take some real explaining to make me understand the concepts. 1. Walking up to the T and hitting a ball. I've seen it from 2 different coaches in the last month. I've seen it done walking up from behind, from the side but back in the box and I've seen it done with the player walking straight at the T. 2

Well then what's a coach to do?
Over Coach -- Don't coach at all! Use the T -- The T doesn't simulate a thrown ball! Cage work -- Cages instill poor practice habits. Throw from 45 feet - This doesn't simulate the realities of the pitch. Do drill work -- There aren't any benefical drills that address proper hitting technique other than live arm on a field. IN SOME FORM OR ANOTHER, ALL OF THESE STATEMENTS HAVE BEEN MADE IN VARIOUS RECENT THREADS IN THE HITTING FORUM. SO I ASK, WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES AND WHAT'S A COACH TO DO?
