Showball Academic Head Coaches Showcase
to the morning session, half go to the afternoon session, so while there are a lot of kids there it doesn't feel as crowded or intense as HF. The first day is devoted to typical showcase stuff: 60s, OF and IF defensive drills, bullpens for pitchers and catchers. BP (two rounds, one against a lefty). All drills in front of all coaches on Saturday. At the end of the day all coaches made themselves available to meet the kids. It was not rushed. Sunday is scrimmage day. Each team plays two games

hitting and timing suggestions
I know that there a lot of terrific videos and articles out there involving drills, which will promote a good swing, sound attack angle, greater power, bat speed, etc. (i.e. the WHAT makes, or ingredients of, a good swing). Does anyone have any suggestions on videos or articles, or their own commentary on timing (i.e. the WHEN to start the same good swing), or drills that might promote good timing for a hitter? My son and I have been discussing this topic (i.e. in particular, starting his

High Growth/Low Performance drills
Jason Ochart at Driveline Baseball wrote an excellent blog post on the Driveline site about implementing Driveline Hitting philosophies into team practice. https://www.drivelinebaseball....-into-team-practice/ In the team setting he advocates using High Growth/Low Performance hitting drills about 75% of the time. He defines HG/LP as: "The athletes do not perform well. There is failure, and skills are chiseled and refined. The motor system is challenged, and high growth occurs. Add psychological

about the negative outcomes as you search for a cure. Given that it is so commonplace in baseball, I'm puzzled why coaches at the collegiate and professional levels are more in tune with helping the player get through it. That said, anyone who may be struggling with this should know that the Yips are very beatable. Hearing the number of success stories along with help from friends in specific drills was the key. Feel free to reach out if you know someone struggling with this. If we can help

Load early/load late
My son is a switch hitter whose primary swing is a righty. Lately throwing BP I have noticed is swing just seemed off. His RH swing was largely foul balls to left and he seemed to be hitting everything off the end of the bat on his LH swing. Took him to a local instructor who told me he is loading late on his RH swing and is loading early and opening up wide on his LH swing. Drills to improve the situation to follow in another lesson . Anyone have any ideas on drills to work on in the mean time?

High school tryouts are only about 2 years out (freshman team usually takes a few 8th graders) so I figured the question was fair game for this board. He is not a big kid, so if he ever wants to get a shot at shortstop, he is going to have to get everything out of his throws. Right now he has a 2B arm but

Towel Drills-good or bad?
Recently ive heard many things about towel drills that indicate they are not the best drill you can be doing to utilize a full throwing motion due to the arm stopping abruptly on contact and no true decel pattern is being developed. Personally, I dont like these drills because I feel it develops bad patterns with
