Nice acurate take on the Bedford-Milford game last year. Unfortunately for Bedford, the track coach is somehow the baseball coach. He thinks because the kids run alot (long distances) in practice that they should be able to steal and take extra bases. Not once have they worked on baserunning, proper reads,or stealing bases in the 2 years they have had the program. Rather than working on some baserunning drills, he sends them off on 2-3 mile jogs.
The Milford game was not the only one where the coach ran the kids into outs without regard or recognition of who was at the plate.....very frustrating to have a couple of your best hitters coming up and men on base erased due to poor coaching.
I know there are coaches on this board and they probably dont like to see criticism of coaching so that is all I will say about it. Its not that he is a bad guy or anything, just has no experience coaching at this level and it shows.
